I used to spend most of my time designing digital interfaces, the apps or websites that you see and interact with on a smartphone or a computer screen. Now I spend more time working with the people who are using these interfaces. This usually involves talking to these people face-to-face about their experiences and seeing how they use an app or a website. It’s all about getting to know what they like or dislike, what they find difficult or easy and why they feel that way. I also organise workshops where we invite the people we are designing for so they can contribute to the design too. This might involve talking about their experiences, sharing their knowledge, or coming up with solutions to the problem we’re facing.
